This American Truck Simulator (ATS) server guide lists every FREAKHOSTING help page for ATS. Your server runs the official SCS convoy dedicated server for up to 8 players. In the Game Panel you set Lobby name, Steam Auth token and Auto update on Startup; everything else (password, player count, moderators, rules) lives in server_config.sii, which you edit in Files. New here? Start with getting started. Some topics happen in your own game, not on the server. Each page says which: triple monitors, force feedback and the economy reset are all set on your PC.

Most asked

  1. Triple monitor setup: r_multimon_mode and multimon_config.sii in your own game.
  2. Reset the economy: uset g_force_economy_reset 1 in your game’s console.
  3. Set up a convoy server: how the dedicated server works and how friends join.
  4. Install mods: in your game, then on the server with exported packages.
  5. Change the time of day: g_set_time in single player, /set_time on the server.
  6. Moderators and commands: moderator_list and chat commands.

Frequently asked questions

How many players can join an American Truck Simulator server?

Up to 8. SCS limits max_players in server_config.sii to 8, so a convoy session can’t go higher. See change max players.

Does my ATS server need the DLC I own?

The server reads DLC and mods from server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat, which you export from your own game. It doesn’t need any DLC files of its own. See export server packages.

Can I use Steam Workshop mods on my ATS server?

The dedicated server can’t download from the Steam Workshop. Subscribe in your game, export your server packages and upload them. Each player still needs the mods in their own game.

Where do I change the server password?

In server_config.sii, in the password line. There is no password field on Startup. See set a password.

Startup variables

Lobby name, token and Auto update.

File Manager

Edit server_config.sii and upload packages.
