If your American Truck Simulator server isn’t in the Convoy session list, check the console says [MP] Session running. Then make sure players have the same game version and mods as the server, and clear the session browser filters. You can always join with direct search, using the search ID the server shows when it starts. Add a Steam logon token so that ID stays the same after restarts.

Step-by-step checks

1

Is the server running?

Open the console. Wait for [MP] Session running. and [MP] State: running. The first start after an update takes longer because the server downloads it.
2

Do the game versions match?

The console shows the server version, for example [MP] Game version: 1.61s. Players must run the same version. Keep Auto update on in Startup and update the game on Steam.
3

Do the mods match?

Check [MP] Modded session: in the console. If the server runs mods, players need the same mods active. See install mods.
4

Are the browser filters hiding it?

Clear the session browser filters in the game, including the filter for servers with optional mods if you use optional mods.
5

Search by name

Search for your Lobby name exactly as it is on Startup. The console prints it as [MP] Session name:.
6

Join by search ID

Use the game’s direct search with the search ID the server prints when it starts. SCS documents this as the way to find a server that isn’t in the list.

Why does my search ID change after every restart?

Without a Steam logon token the server logs in anonymously ([MP] LogOn Anonymous in the console) and gets a new, non-persistent ID on each start. Create a token for app 270880 and paste it into Steam Auth token on Startup. See Steam logon token.

Players can see the server but can’t join

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to open ports for my FREAKHOSTING server?

No. Ports 27015 and 27016 are already open for your server. The virtual ports 100 and 101 in server_config.sii don’t need forwarding.

Does show_server hide my server?

No. SCS says show_server and friends_only are not used by the dedicated server.

Can I change the ports?

The Query port is read only. For a different or extra port, open a ticket.
