When a CS2 server doesn’t show in the community server browser, the most common cause is the Game Server Login Token (GSLT): it is missing, mistyped, banned, expired or already used on another server. On a FREAKHOSTING server, open Server settings, look at Checks and the Game server login token field, paste a valid token made for App ID 730 and restart.

Check 1: the GSLT token

The panel says it plainly: “Without it the server is not listed in the server browser.”
1

Open Server settings

Click Server settings under COUNTER-STRIKE 2 in the sidebar.
CS2 Server settings page showing the Checks box and the Basics section with Server name, Join password, Player slots and the Game server login token field

Checks and the Game server login token field in Server settings

2

Read the Checks box

A warning such as The token does not look right means the token is not 32 letters and digits (0-9, A-F). Click Details, then Go to the setting.
3

Get a valid token

Click Manage tokens (Steam) or go to steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers. Check that your token:
  • was created with App ID 730,
  • is not marked as banned or expired, and
  • is used on this server only. Each server needs its own token.
If in doubt, create a new one. The Steam account must not be limited. See how to set the GSLT.
4

Paste it and save

Paste the token into Game server login token, click Review and save, then Save changes. It is saved to the Startup variable STEAM_ACC.
5

Restart

Restart the server, then look for it in the server browser again.

Check 2: the server is fully started

  • A new server first downloads about 68 GiB. While it installs, the panel shows This server is currently running its installation process and most actions are unavailable.
  • After it starts, wait until the Console stops printing start-up messages. Errors there often name the problem.

Check 3: LAN mode and INSECURE

Click Open server.cfg in Server settings to look for sv_lan. Restart after any change.
  • Players can join without the browser: connect 203.0.113.10:27015 in the CS2 console, with your own address. See how to connect to a CS2 server.
  • Filters in the server browser can hide your server. Ask players to clear their filters and search again.
  • Server tags help players find you once you are listed. See how to change server tags.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GSLT for a private server?

Yes. Valve’s dedicated server documentation says other players can’t join a server without one, and the panel notes it isn’t listed in the server browser either.

Can I use the same GSLT on two servers?

No. Create a token for each server on the Steam page.

Why did my server disappear after working before?

The token may have been banned or reset on Steam, or changed by mistake. Check Checks in Server settings and the token’s status on the Steam page.

Does a password hide my server?

A Join password stops people joining without it. To keep the server private, set a password rather than relying on it being hidden.
