Server tags are keywords that help players find your lobby within the Counter-Strike 2 community browser. Adding relevant tags for your game mode (e.g., “Surf”, “Retakes”, “1v1”) is essential for attracting new players.

Setting Up Your Tags

  1. Access your FREAKHOSTING Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab.
  3. Open the /game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg file.
  4. Add or modify the sv_tags command. Tags must be separated by commas without spaces: 
    sv_tags "freakhosting,surf,timer,ranks,fastdl"
  5. Save the file and Restart the server.

Verifying Visibility

Once the server is online, you can verify your tags are active:
  1. Open the CS2 Console (~).
  2. Type sv_tags and press Enter. The console will return the currently active tags.
  3. Search for one of your specific tags in the in-game Community Browser refresh list.

Tag Limits

Valve allows a limited number of characters for the tags field. Keep your tags concise and prioritize the ones that best describe your unique game mode or regional location.
