To join your FREAKHOSTING Hytale server, open the server in the Game Panel and click Copy address on Overview. In Hytale, open the multiplayer server list, add a server and paste the address in the form IP:port, for example 203.0.113.10:5520. Your game and the server must be on exactly the same version, and you enter the password if the server has one.

Before you start

  • Your server must be running. Check the status on Overview or Console.
  • Your server must be logged in to a Hytale account once. If it still shows Starting with a login code in Console, see getting started.
  • Update Hytale in the launcher, so your game matches the server version.

How to find your Hytale server address

Open your server

Log in to the Game Panel and open your Hytale server.

Copy the address

On Overview, click Copy address. You also find the address, with its port, on Network.
The address has two parts: the IP and the port after the colon. Hytale’s default port is 5520, but your server can use a different one. Always use the port shown in the panel.
A subdomain gives your server an easier name to share. Players still add the port after it, for example play.example.com:5520.

Start Hytale

Open the Hytale launcher, let it update and start the game.

Open the server list

Open the multiplayer server list.

Add your server

Add a server and paste your address, for example 203.0.113.10:5520. Give it a name you will recognise.

Connect

Select the server and connect. If the server has a password, enter it when asked.

Why can’t I join my Hytale server?

What is the default Hytale server port?

UDP 5520. Hytale uses the QUIC protocol over UDP by default. Transport on Startup can switch the server to TCP for networks that block UDP. See port and firewall.

Do I need to port forward to join a hosted server?

No. Port forwarding is only for servers you host at home. Your FREAKHOSTING server is already reachable on its address.

Why isn’t my server in a public list?

Hytale’s official server discovery is planned but not available yet. Share your address with your players.

Can friends join with a different game version?

No. Client and server must be on exactly the same protocol version, or the connection is rejected.
