What is the difference between open.mp and SA-MP?

Both are multiplayer mods for GTA San Andreas. open.mp is the newer, backwards-compatible server: according to open.mp, old SA-MP .amx scripts load without changes and players on the SA-MP client can join. It uses config.json instead of server.cfg.

How do players join my open.mp server?

With the address from Overview, added to favourites in the open.mp launcher or the SA-MP 0.3.7 client, or by finding your server in the server list.

Can I run my own gamemode?

Yes. Upload the compiled .amx to gamemodes/ and enter its name in Game modes. See install a gamemode.

How do I get admin rights on my server?

Turn on Enable RCON in Game settings, restart and type /rcon login yourpassword in game. See RCON and admin login.
