If your Valheim dedicated server isn’t showing in the server list, first check that Show in the server list is on in Valheim settings and that the server has finished loading its world. Then search the Community list in game for your exact Server name. You can always skip the list and join with the Join IP shown in the Game Panel, for example 203.0.113.10:2456.

How to make your Valheim server show in the list

Turn on the listing

Open Valheim settings under VALHEIM and turn on Show in the server list. When it is off, players can only join with the address (Join IP).

Save and restart

Click Review and save and restart the server.

Wait for the world to load

Watch the console. The server only appears once it is running. A new world takes longer the first time because the server creates it.

Search by name

In game, open Join game, choose the Community list and type your Server name in the search box. The list is long, so searching is faster than scrolling.

Join without the server list

The server list isn’t needed to play. Add the server directly:
  • In game: add the server with the Join IP from the panel, such as 203.0.113.10:2456.
  • Steam server browser: in Steam, use View > Game Servers > Favourites, add your IP with the game port + 1 (203.0.113.10:2457) and connect from there.
  • Crossplay: with Crossplay on, players can also use the join code from the console. See crossplay.

How long does it take for a Valheim server to appear in the list?

It appears after the server has loaded its world. If it still isn’t there after a few minutes, join with the Join IP; the listing doesn’t affect who can join.

Why can my friends join by IP but not find the server in the list?

Show in the server list is probably off, or they are searching a different list or name. Turn the setting on and search the Community list for the exact name.

Does crossplay change the server list?

Crossplay servers can still be listed. Players can also join them with the join code or the address.
