This Project Zomboid dedicated server guide links every FREAKHOSTING help page for Project Zomboid. You run your server from the Game Panel at games.freakhosting.com. The Game settings page under GAME SETTINGS edits the server settings and the sandbox (world rules) without opening files, and has presets for co-op, PvP, hardcore and relaxed servers. Changes apply the next time the server starts.

Frequently asked questions

Which Project Zomboid version does my server run?

Your server runs Build 42, the current stable build. Players need the same build to join. Build 41 is only available to players on the legacy41 Steam beta, and its saves don’t load in Build 42.

Where are the Project Zomboid server settings?

Open Game settings in the panel. The files behind it are in .cache/Server and are named after the Server Name startup variable, for example servertest.ini and servertest_SandboxVars.lua.

How do I become admin on my server?

Join with the Admin Username and Admin Password from the Startup page, or type setaccesslevel "YourName" admin in the panel console. See admin commands.
