FiveM server artifacts are the builds of FXServer, the server program from Cfx.re. To update them on FREAKHOSTING, click Artifacts under FIVEM, choose Recommended, Latest or Pick a specific build, then click Change Build. The switch takes about 25 seconds, keeps your old build so you can go back with one click, and leaves the server stopped until you start it.

Before you start

  • Create a backup so you can undo anything a new build breaks.
  • Players are disconnected while the server is stopped for the switch.
  • Turn off Auto Update if you want to stay on a specific build. Open Startup and switch Auto Update off. While it is on, the server reinstalls the newest FXServer build every time it starts, which replaces the build you picked here.

The Artifacts page

The top of the page shows Currently installed, with the FXServer build and txAdmin version. Badges such as YOUR BUILD or OLDER THAN YOURS compare each card with what you run now. Click Refresh to update the page.

How to change the FXServer build

Open Artifacts

Open your server in the Game Panel and click Artifacts under FIVEM.

Pick a build

Click Recommended, Latest or Pick a specific build. In the dialog, check the Build drop-down and the date Cfx.re supports it until.

Read the warning for older builds

If you pick an older build, the dialog warns that resources and txAdmin data made for a newer build may not work on it. You can go back afterwards.

Change the build

Switch on Start the server afterwards if you want, then click Change Build.

Start the server

When you see Build changed, go to Console and click Start, unless the server starts by itself.

What happens during the switch

  1. The new build is downloaded (about 70 MB) and checked while your server keeps running.
  2. The server is stopped.
  3. The server program is replaced. The old build is kept.
  4. The server stays stopped until you start it, unless you switched on Start the server afterwards.
Your resources, server.cfg, txAdmin data (txData), cache and logs are not touched.

How to go back to the previous build

After a change, Artifacts shows who installed the build, when, and which build it replaced.
  • Click Go back to build … to switch back to your previous build.
  • Click Delete it to remove the kept build once you are happy with the new one.

Do FXServer builds expire?

Yes. Every build has an end-of-support date from Cfx.re, shown as until on each card and in the build list. Check Artifacts now and then, and move to Recommended before your build’s date passes.

Is the FXServer build the same as the game build?

No. The FXServer build is the server program. The game build is the GTA V version players must run, set on Server config. See how to change the game build.

Why did my FXServer build change after a restart?

Auto Update in Startup is on. It reinstalls the newest FXServer build at every start. Switch it off, then pick your build again on Artifacts.

Does updating artifacts update txAdmin?

Yes. txAdmin comes with each FXServer build, so the card shows which txAdmin version you get, for example txAdmin 8.1.1 with build 35245.

What does “Not installed through this page” mean?

Your current build came with the server or was put there by hand. You can still change it with the cards below.

My server broke after an update. What now?

Click Go back to build … on Artifacts, start the server and check that it works. Then see which resource needs updating before you try the new build again.
