Community Gatekeeping
One of the most effective ways to build a dedicated community and prevent “random” griefers from joining is to link your server to a Steam Group. Once enabled, the server will check every connecting player’s group membership and automatically disconnect anyone who hasn’t joined your community.

1. Finding Your Group ID
- Open your Steam Group page in a web browser.
- In the URL, look for the numerical ID (or append
/editto the URL to view the direct ID in the metadata). - If your group has a custom URL, you may need to use a “Steam ID Finder” tool to retrieve the long-form Group ID64.
2. Enabling the Check (Config.json)
- Navigate to:
/Servers/Default/Config.json - Search for the
Steam_Group_IDfield. - Replace the
0with your group’s ID: - Save and Restart the server.
