Granular Traffic Control

The Dataforest custom rule engine is a powerful management interface designed for advanced users and specialized applications. By using this interface, you can architect a bespoke security perimeter that goes beyond standard protection profiles. You have the technical flexibility to define specific protocols, port ranges, and specialized filtering “engines” that understand the unique traffic patterns of your proprietary software or custom game modifications.

Configuration Interface Access

Follow these steps to initialize the custom rule creation process.
1

Select Your Asset

Log in to the Firewall Panel and navigate to the IP Addresses tab. Select your Dataforest-protected IP.
2

Open Filtering Controls

Click on the Filters tab in the secondary navigation bar.
3

Initialize the Rule

Click the Apply Protection button and select the Apply Filter tab within the configuration modal to access the custom rule builder.

Technical Logic Engines

Dataforest provides a wide array of specialized engines that perform protocol-specific validation.
  • Gaming-Specific: Optimized validation for AltV, FiveM (Strict/Light), Minecraft Java, and Tibia.
  • Infrastructure: Hardened engines for HTTP, SSH, TLS, txAdmin, and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).
  • Security Verification: use the Website Challenge engine to require browser validation before granting network access.

Advanced Rule Parameters

By default, rules can be applied to a single port (e.g., 25565). For dynamic applications, toggle the Use port range switch to define a start and end port (e.g., 10000-20000). Leaving these fields empty will apply the engine to all ports for the selected protocol.
Incorporate your pre-defined IP Lists (Whitelists or Blacklists) into your rules. This allows you to apply a specific filtering engine exclusively to traffic originating from known staff IPs or restricted proxy ranges.

Protocol Selection

Ensure you select the correct protocol (TCP, UDP, or ICMP) for your rule. Applying a UDP-specific logic engine to a TCP port will result in the immediate rejection of all legitimate traffic. Always verify your application’s technical documentation before committing changes.
