The Notifications page sends you an alert when something happens on your protected IP addresses. For example, you can get an alert when an attack starts or ends, or when someone changes a firewall rule. Alerts can go to a Discord channel, an email address or a Slack channel.

Before you start: get a webhook URL

Email alerts only need an email address. Discord and Slack alerts need a webhook URL. A webhook URL is a private link that lets the firewall post messages into one channel.

Open your server settings

In Discord, right-click your server and choose Server Settings. You need the Manage Webhooks permission.

Create the webhook

Go to Integrations, then Webhooks, then New Webhook.

Choose the channel

Give the webhook a name, such as Firewall alerts, and pick the channel the alerts should appear in.

Copy the URL

Click Copy Webhook URL. It starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.
Anyone who has a webhook URL can post into that channel. Treat it like a password and don’t share it in public.

Add a notification

Open the form

On Notifications, click + Add notification.

Choose the channel

Pick Discord, Email or Slack.

Name it

Give the alert a name you’ll recognise, for example On-call alerts.

Enter the destination

Paste the Webhook URL for Discord or Slack, or type the Email address.

Pick the events

Click the events you want alerts for. Highlighted events are on. Attack start and Attack end are on by default.

Save

Leave Status as Active and click Add notification.

Which events can you get alerts for?

If you are new, start with Attack start and Attack end only. Add Rule applied and Rule removed if other people manage your firewall and you want to know when they change something.

Manage your notifications

Your alerts are listed in a table with their Name, Destination, Status and the date they were Created. Use the icons in the Actions column to manage each one.

Send a test alert

Click the paper plane icon next to the alert. Then check your Discord channel, Slack channel or inbox.
The panel doesn’t show a message when it sends the test. Look at the destination to confirm the alert arrived. For email, check your spam folder too.

Pause alerts without deleting them

Edit the alert

Click the sliders icon next to the alert.

Mute it

Set Status to Muted and click Save changes.
To turn the alert back on, set Status to Active again.

Delete an alert

Click the bin icon and confirm with Delete notification. Alerts stop going to that destination straight away. You can’t undo this, but you can add the alert again at any time.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that the webhook URL or email address is correct. Open the alert with the sliders icon to see it.
  • Make sure the alert’s Status is Active, not Muted.
  • For Discord, check that the webhook wasn’t deleted in Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks.
  • For Slack, check that the app is still installed in your workspace.
  • For email, look in your spam or junk folder and add the sender to your contacts.
Edit the alert and turn off the events you don’t need, for example Rule applied and Rule removed. You can also create separate alerts, for example attacks to one Discord channel and rule changes to another.
Yes. Add one notification for each destination. Each can have its own events.
Your role in the organization may not allow you to manage notifications. Ask the organization owner to check your role. See Team members and roles.
