Winter in the Wasteland

The Frosty Winter mod (by Grimes) adds snow physics and freezing visuals to ATS, completely changing the driving experience. This guide covers how to set it up for your server.

Installation Steps

Since this mod is not available on the Steam Workshop, it must be installed manually.
  1. Download: Obtain the .scs file from the official Grimes library.
  2. Upload: Place the file in your server’s /mod/ directory.
  3. Register: Add the filename to your server_packages.sii configuration.

Changed Driving Dynamics

Be aware that the Winter mod is more than just a visual change:
  • Friction: Road friction is significantly reduced. Trucks will slide on corners and have much longer braking distances.
  • Slope Management: We do not recommend using the “Heavy Cargo” DLC while the winter mod is active, as heavy loads can make getting up slopes nearly impossible in the snow.
