This Terraria server hosting guide lists every FREAKHOSTING help page for Terraria. Your server runs the official vanilla Terraria dedicated server. You change it on the Game settings page under GAME SETTINGS in the Game Panel, on the Startup page, or in serverconfig.txt. The server creates its world on the first start, so set the world name, difficulty, size and seed first. New here? Start with getting started.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install mods or TShock on my Terraria server?

Your server runs vanilla Terraria, so TShock, its plugins and tModLoader mods aren’t installed. For a TShock or modded (tModLoader) server, open a ticket.

How do players join my Terraria server?

In Terraria, choose Multiplayer, then Join via IP, pick a character, and enter your server’s IP and port (7777 by default). See getting started.

Why is my new world in Journey mode?

New worlds use Journey unless you change World difficulty before the world is created. See world size and difficulty.

How do I become admin on my Terraria server?

Vanilla Terraria has no in-game admin rank. You run commands such as kick and ban in the panel Console. See console commands.

Start, stop and restart

Control your server’s power.
