Maintaining Technical Version Parity

Counter-Strike 2 and Enshrouded share a high-frequency developmental lifecycle during their respective Early Access phases. To prevent “Version Mismatch” disconnections and ensure your community has access to the latest biome improvements, stability patches, and functional items, your server node must be synchronized with the official Valve branch. The FREAKHOSTING platform integrates with the SteamCMD utility to automate this maintenance task, ensuring your binaries are updated with minimal downtime.

Technical Update Procedure

Follow these steps to authorize a manual binary validation and update on your instance.

Initialize Maintenance

Log in to the Game Panel and select your active Enshrouded server.

Execute Update Trigger

Locate and click the Update button situated in the primary management sidebar.

Monitor SteamCMD Logs

The server will transition to an Updating status. Open the Console tab to view the real-time progress of the validation check: +app_update 2278520 validate

Verification

Once the download concludes, the server will return to an Online or Offline state. Proceed to Start the server to initialize the updated engine.

Strategic Automated Maintenance

FREAKHOSTING startup scripts are programmatically designed to perform an update check every time the server initializes. If a new patch has been released on Steam, a simple Stop and Start cycle will often force the retrieval of the latest binaries automatically, bypassing the need for manual button clicks.
While engine updates strictly target the server binaries and do not modify your /savegame/ directory, the volatile nature of Early Access software means bugs can occur. We highly recommend generating a Manual Backup before applying major narrative or mechanical title updates.
