A Euro Truck Simulator 2 Convoy dedicated server is SCS Software’s official multiplayer server. It keeps a Convoy session running without any player hosting it, for up to 8 players. On FREAKHOSTING you name the session on Startup, set rules in server_config.sii, and add DLC or mods by uploading server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat exported from your own game.

How to set up your Convoy dedicated server

Name the session

On Startup, enter a Lobby name. Fields save when you click out of them. See getting started.

Set your rules

In Files, open .local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/server_config.sii and set the password, description, welcome message and rules such as traffic or force_speed_limiter. See server_config.sii explained.

Add moderators

Add your Steam ID to moderator_list so you can use moderator commands. See moderators and commands.

Add DLC and mods (optional)

Export server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat from your game with the DLC and mods you want, and upload both to the same folder. See export server packages.

Keep the same search ID (optional)

Add a Steam logon token in Steam Auth token. See Steam logon token.

Restart and check the console

Restart and wait for [MP] Session running. in the console.

How do friends join a Convoy dedicated server?

  1. In Euro Truck Simulator 2, open Convoy from the main menu.
  2. Search for the exact Lobby name or the search ID the server shows when it starts. SCS’s browser shows only sessions in your region unless you search by exact name.
  3. Join and enter the password if there is one.
All players need an up-to-date game. Your server updates itself at each start while Auto update is on.

What the server does not do

  • It has no in-game control panel. You change settings in the files and restart.
  • It can’t download Steam Workshop mods itself. Players subscribe to missing Workshop mods from the session browser.
  • It can’t raise the limit above 8 players.

What is the ETS2 dedicated server App ID?

The dedicated server is Steam app 1948160. The game itself is 227300; use the game’s ID when you create a Steam logon token.

Can I run an ETS2 dedicated server without owning the DLC?

Yes. SCS says the server runs without owning the game or DLC. The DLC list comes from the server_packages files you export from a game that has them.

Is a Convoy server the same as TruckersMP?

No. Convoy is SCS’s built-in multiplayer. TruckersMP is a separate mod with its own servers and rules.

Does my progress count on a Convoy server?

Players drive with their own profiles. SCS lets players keep or revert the progress made in a session when it ends unexpectedly.
