Euro Truck Simulator 2 now supports Dedicated Convoy Servers, allowing for a persistent world environment. Unlike peer-to-peer sessions, a dedicated server remains online 24/7, maintains synchronized AI traffic across all participants, and provides a stable platform for Virtual Trucking Companies (VTCs).

1. Authentication (GSLT)

Just like other Steam-based games, ETS2 requires a Game Server Login Token to appear in the public browser.
  1. Visit the Steam GSLT Manager.
  2. App ID: Enter 227300 for ETS2.
  3. Copy the token and paste it into the server_logon_token field in your server_config.sii.

2. Server Configuration

Navigate to /.local/share/Euro Truck Simulator 2/ in your FREAKHOSTING panel to find server_config.sii. Key settings include:
  • lobby_name: The public name of your convoy.
  • max_players: Define your limit (Default 8, can be increased).
  • password: Set a phrase to keep your convoy private.
  • description: Add a welcome message or VTC rules.

3. Synchronizing Map Data

To ensure every player is driving on the same map version:
  1. On your personal PC, open the game console (~).
  2. Type export_server_packages.
  3. Locate the server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat files in your local Documents folder.
  4. Upload these files to the root of your FREAKHOSTING server. This ensures that only players with matching DLCs and mods can join.
