Expanding the Horizons: ProMods

ProMods is the most renowned map expansion project for Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2), introducing thousands of kilometers of new arterial roads, meticulously detailed cities, and authentic localized landmarks. Running ProMods on a dedicated server enables your community to experience the ultimate simulation depth; however, it requires absolute technical synchronization between the server and every participating driver. This guide ensures your hosting environment is correctly architected to handle the massive scope of the ProMods world.

Technical Infrastructure Requirements

Due to its sheer scale, ProMods has significantly higher resource requirements compared to the vanilla game engine.
To initialize the current version of ProMods, your server MUST have access to all major official Map DLCs (including Going East, Scandinavia, Viva la France, Italia, Beyond the Baltic Sea, Road to the Black Sea, Iberia, and West Balkans).

Installation & Deployment Workflow

Follow these steps to migrate the ProMods assets to your dedicated server node.
1

Generate the Definition File

Visit the official ProMods website to generate your custom .def file. important: Ensure you check the box for “Check this if you are using a dedicated server”. This optimizes the file for multiplayer synchronization.
2

Upload Asset Files

use the Game Panel File Manager or an SFTP client to upload all seven ProMods .scs files (Assets, Model 1-3, Map, Media, and your custom Def) into the server’s /mod/ directory.
3

Establish Load Priority

In your server_packages.sii, the entry sequence must match your local mod manifest exactly. For the best stability, we recommend placing the .def file at the top of the priority list.
4

Initialize and Validate

Restart your server. Monitor the Console tab; the first boot will take several minutes as the engine rebuilds the navigation graph for the expanded world.

Version & Hash Synchronization

Every player intending to join your server must possess the identical versions of the ProMods .scs files. Even a minor variation in the definition file or an outdated asset build will result in a “Mod Mismatch” error, and the server will reject the connection attempt.
