This guide shows you how to give people admin rights, use the console and its quick buttons, and limit who can join your FiveM server with a whitelist.

Two kinds of admin rights

Game Panel access is separate again. To let someone use the panel (console, files, restarts), add them as a subuser.

Add a txAdmin admin

The Cfx.re account you linked during txAdmin setup is the master admin. It can add other admins.
1

Open txAdmin

Click Open txAdmin next to your server’s IP and sign in.
2

Open the Admin Manager

Go to the Admin Manager and add a new admin.
3

Enter their identifiers

Enter a user name and the person’s Cfx.re and/or Discord identifier. Without at least one of these, they can’t open the in-game menu.
4

Choose permissions

Tick only what they need. For example, a moderator usually needs kick, warn and spectate, but not all_permissions or server control.
5

Share the details

Send them their sign-in details privately. Admins can sign in with the Cfx.re button or with their password.

Useful txAdmin permissions

The full list is in the txAdmin permissions docs.

Ace permissions in server.cfg

Scripts check ace permissions to decide who may use a command. You set them with two commands in server.cfg:
  • add_ace gives a group (principal) a permission.
  • add_principal puts a player in a group.
To find a player’s identifiers, type status in the console while they are online, or look them up in txAdmin’s player list.
1

Open server.cfg

Go to Server config and click Advanced: open the raw file.
2

Add your lines

Add the add_ace and add_principal lines above the ensure lines of the scripts that use them.
3

Restart

Save the file and restart the server.
Prefer identifier.fivem: or identifier.discord: over identifier.steam:. Steam identifiers only work when your server has a Steam Web API key.

Console quick buttons

Above the console you find quick buttons. They are greyed out while the server is offline.

Add your own button

1

Click +

Click the + button next to the quick buttons.
Add your own button dialog with One command and Several commands options, a Name field with a 24 character limit, a Command field, an Ask before running it option and an Add button

Add your own console button

2

Fill it in

  • Choose One command or Several commands.
  • Name: up to 24 characters, for example Restart cars.
  • Command: up to 200 characters, for example ensure [cars]. A semicolon is sent as a comma, so use Several commands to run more than one.
  • Tick Ask before running it for anything that affects players, such as a restart.
3

Save

Click Add button.
Your own buttons are saved in this browser, for this server only. On another computer or browser, add them again.

Useful console commands

Type these in the Console command box. See how to use the server console.
status and clientkick come from the rconlog resource, and say from the chat resource. If they don’t work, make sure those resources are started. For bans, use txAdmin, which keeps a ban list.

Whitelist your server

txAdmin has a built-in whitelist, so you don’t need an extra script. Open txAdmin, go to its settings and choose a whitelist mode:

Whitelist by Discord role

1

Create a Discord bot

In the Discord Developer Portal, create an application and add a bot. Under Bot, switch on Server Members Intent. Copy the bot token.
2

Invite the bot

Invite the bot to your Discord server. Don’t give it the Administrator permission: txAdmin disables a bot that has it, for your safety.
3

Connect it to txAdmin

In txAdmin’s settings, open the Discord bot section, paste the bot token and your Discord server ID, enable the bot and save.
4

Choose the roles

In the whitelist settings, choose Discord Roles and add the role IDs that may join. In Discord, turn on Developer Mode, then right-click a role and click Copy Role ID.
Players need Discord running and linked to FiveM when they connect. Without a Discord identifier, they are refused.
Write clear instructions in the whitelist rejection message, such as where to apply. Players see it when they are refused.
