Resources are the add-ons of a FiveM server: scripts, cars, maps, clothing and more. This guide shows you how to upload and start them with the Resources page, and how to add cars, maps and interiors.

The Resources page

Resources shows your resources folder and which resources server.cfg starts with the server. Open your server, then click Resources in the sidebar under FIVEM.
Resources page with a search box, All, Start at boot and Not started filters, an Upload a resource button, a summary of 16 resources with 2 starting with the server, and rows with a category folder, Details, a Start at boot toggle and Delete

The Resources page

These changes apply after a restart, or straight away if you start the resource from the console. If txAdmin uses a different folder than your main folder, the page has no effect; see Set up txAdmin.

Upload a resource

1

Get the resource as a zip

Download the resource from its official page. The zip must contain a fxmanifest.lua file. Older resources with __resource.lua only are outdated; look for a newer version.
2

Upload it

On Resources, click Upload a resource. Drop the .zip on the box or click Choose a zip file. The zip can be up to 100 MB.
Upload a resource box explaining that a zip with a fxmanifest.lua inside is checked first and then unpacked on the server, with a drop area, a Choose a zip file button and an Up to 100 MB limit

Upload a resource as a zip

The panel checks the zip first, then unpacks it on the server.
3

Switch on Start at boot

Find the resource in the list and switch on Start at boot.
4

Start it

Restart the server, or start the resource straight away from the console (see below).

Resources larger than 100 MB

Car packs and maps are often bigger than 100 MB. Upload those with an SFTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP. See how to connect via SFTP.
  1. Unzip the resource on your computer.
  2. Upload the folder into resources (or a category folder such as resources/[cars]). The fxmanifest.lua must sit directly inside the resource’s folder, not one level deeper.
  3. Go to Resources, find it and switch on Start at boot.
You can also upload smaller files in Files; see how to use the file manager.

Load order

Resources start in the order of their ensure lines in server.cfg. A resource must start after the resources it depends on. A good order is:
  1. Cfx.re system resources (mapmanager, chat, spawnmanager, sessionmanager and so on)
  2. Database: oxmysql
  3. Your framework, e.g. qb-core, qbx_core or es_extended
  4. Framework add-ons and other scripts
  5. Voice (e.g. pma-voice)
  6. Assets: cars, maps, clothing
To change the order, click Advanced: open the raw file on Server config and move the lines. Always use ensure, not start.
You can start a whole category folder with one line, for example ensure [cars] starts every resource in resources/[cars].

Start a resource without a restart

Use the quick buttons above the console. They work while the server is running.
1

Refresh

Click Refresh resources. This runs refresh, so the server sees resources you just uploaded.
2

Ensure

Click Ensure resource and enter the resource’s folder name. This starts it, or restarts it if it’s already running.
You can also type the commands in the console: refresh, then ensure myresource. See useful console commands.

Add cars

Add-on cars are resources with a stream folder for the model files and a few data_file lines in fxmanifest.lua. A typical car resource looks like this:
And its fxmanifest.lua:
Most car packs already come with this set up. Upload the resource, switch on Start at boot, restart and spawn the car by its model name.
Keep each car’s texture (.ytd) files small; very large textures cause texture loss and stutter for players. To change how a car drives, see vehicle handling.

Add custom maps (YMAPs)

Map mods are resources with a stream folder, like cars.
  1. Put the .ymap files (and any .ytyp, .ydr and .ytd files that came with them) in a stream folder inside the resource.
  2. Add this line to the resource’s fxmanifest.lua, under game 'gta5':
  3. Upload the resource, switch on Start at boot and restart.

Load interiors (IPLs)

GTA V hides many interiors, such as heist apartments and nightclubs, until they are loaded. If players fall through floors or see empty buildings, the interior isn’t loaded. The common fix is the free bob74_ipl resource:
  1. Download the latest release zip from GitHub.
  2. Upload it on Resources (or upload the bob74_ipl folder into resources via SFTP).
  3. Switch on Start at boot and restart.
Interiors from newer DLCs need a matching game build. The bob74_ipl wiki lists how to customise each interior.

Popular setups
