Satisfactory server performance depends mostly on factory size, player count and how much data the server sends each player. On a FREAKHOSTING server, watch CPU and memory on Statistics, raise Internet speed per player on Game settings, adjust Network Quality in the Server Manager, turn on Auto Pause, set a daily Server Restart Interval and keep to the 4 players the server is tuned for.

What makes a Satisfactory server slow?

  • Factory size. Every machine, belt, pipe, train and vehicle is simulated. Big saves need more memory and CPU.
  • Single-thread load. The server uses several threads, but the game loop runs on one, so one core does most of the work. Extra cores help less than a fast single core.
  • Network data. Every moving item has to be sent to players. If the server assumes too little bandwidth per player, belts stutter.
  • Players. The server is tuned for 4 players.

How to check your server’s load

Open Statistics to see CPU, memory and network use. Set up server alerts to get a message when the server crashes or stays at its memory limit. The full log is in FactoryGame/Saved/Logs/FactoryGame.log; see server logs.

How to make your Satisfactory server run better

1

Raise the internet speed per player

On Game settings, click Show advanced settings and set Internet speed per player to 104857600. See belt stutter and network quality.
2

Tune Network Quality

In Server Manager > Server Settings, a higher Network Quality can improve load times and network performance for players, but costs server frame rate. If the server itself is struggling, try a lower value.
3

Turn on Auto Pause

Auto Pause pauses the game when nobody is online, so the factory doesn’t run with no players.
4

Restart once a day

Set Server Restart Interval to a quiet time, for example 06:00. The server then restarts daily at that time. You can also use Schedules in the panel.
5

Give slow players more time

If players time out while loading a big world, use the Patient connections preset on Game settings for longer timeouts.
6

Keep the server up to date

Leave Update the server automatically on, so the server gets the latest fixes and stays on the same version as your players.

Is the lag on the server or the player’s side?

Frequently asked questions

Does a server with more cores run Satisfactory faster?

Not much. The game loop runs on one thread, so single-core speed matters most.

Why does memory use keep growing?

Memory grows with your factory. A bigger world simply needs more memory. A daily restart gives the server a fresh start.

Can I have more players to share the load?

More players add load, they don’t share it. The server is tuned for 4; see max players.

Do mods affect performance?

They can. Mods add work for the server. If the server got slower after installing mods, test without them; see install mods.
