Advanced Email Configuration

To ensure that your emails reach their destination and are not flagged as spam, you must properly configure your account’s authentication and routing settings. The FREAKHOSTING Web Control Panel provides deep control over these technical aspects.

Mail Routing (Local vs. Remote)

Mail routing determines how our server handles emails sent to your domain. Choosing the wrong setting can lead to internal emails never being delivered.

Navigate to Emails

Log in to the Web Panel and click on the Emails tab.

Locate Settings

Find the Settings or Routing section.

Choose Your Mode

  • Local Relay: Choose this if you use the FREAKHOSTING email system (Roundcube) to receive your emails.
  • Remote Relay: Choose this if you use an external provider like Google Workspace (Gmail), Microsoft 365, or Zoho. This tells our server not to look for mailboxes locally but to send them out to the internet immediately.

DKIM Authentication

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) adds a cryptographic signature to your outgoing emails. This signature proves to the receiving server (like Gmail or Outlook) that the email was actually sent by you and wasn’t altered in transit.
  1. In the Emails tab, locate the DKIM Authentication section.
  2. If it is currently disabled, click the Enable toggle.
  3. The system will automatically generate the required public key and add the corresponding TXT record to your DNS zone.
  4. Once enabled, your “deliverability score” will increase, significantly reducing the chances of your emails ending up in the recipient’s spam folder.

Why Authentication Matters

Without DKIM, a malicious user could potentially send emails that appear to come from your [email protected] address. Authentication settings prevent this by verifying the sender’s identity.
Modern email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud) are extremely strict. If your domain lacks proper DKIM or SPF records, they may reject your emails entirely to protect their users from potential phishing.
