Creating Subdomains
Subdomains (e.g.,blog.test.com or shop.test.com) allow you to create distinct sections of your website that can lead to completely different content.
Access Domain Management
Log in to the Web Panel and click on the Domains tab for your website.
Configure Path
- Prefix: Enter the subdomain name (e.g.,
shop). - Document Root: Specify where the files for this subdomain will be stored (e.g.,
/public_html/shop). If left default, it usually creates a directory of the same name.
Domain Aliases (Pointer Domains)
A domain alias allows another domain name (e.g.,test.net) to point directly to the content of your primary domain (test.com). This is useful for capturing traffic from multiple extensions or common misspellings.
- Navigate to the Domains tab.
- Click the Add Alias button.
- Enter the secondary domain name you wish to link.
- Note: You must ensure the secondary domain is also pointed to our nameservers.
- Once saved, visiting the alias domain will display the same content as your primary site without changing the URL in the address bar.
Managing Document Roots
Every domain and subdomain has a Document Root, which is the specific folder on the server where its files are searched for.- For your main domain, this is usually
/public_html. - You can change the document root of any subdomain by clicking the Edit icon next to it in the Domains list. This is useful for deploying frameworks like Laravel, where the public files are located in a
/publicsubfolder.
