Automatic System Backups

Our platform automatically generates backups of your entire hosting account (including files, databases, and emails) at regular intervals (daily/hourly depending on your plan).

Access Backups Manager

Log in to the Web Panel and select your website. Click on the Backups tab in the top navigation.

Select a Snapshot

You will see a list of available backups, sorted by date and time. Identify the snapshot you wish to use.

Choose Action

  • Restore: This will overwrite your current website files and databases with the data from the chosen backup. Use this only if you are sure you want to revert everything.
  • Download: This allows you to download a .tar.gz or .zip archive of the backup to your local computer. This is the safest way to extract specific files without reverting the entire site.

Manual Backup Operations

In addition to our automatic system, you can manage your own backups manually.
  • Uploading a Backup: If you have a backup of your site from another provider or a previous FREAKHOSTING account, you can use the Upload button in the Backups tab to import it.
  • Site Migrations: Manual backups are the most reliable way to move your site between different hosting accounts or servers.

Best Practices for Data Safety

Always download a fresh backup before performing major updates to your CMS (like WordPress), themes, or plugins. This ensures you can roll back instantly if the update causes a conflict.
While our server backups are reliable, we recommend occasionally downloading a copy of your site to your local computer or a cloud storage service (like Google Drive or Dropbox) for ultimate redundancy.

Restoration Overwrites Data

When you click Restore, the process is irreversible. Any changes made to your website after the backup snapshot was taken will be lost. Always ensure you have a reason to perform a full restoration.
