Modding Your 7D2D Server

Modding 7 Days to Die (7D2D) allows you to customize gameplay, add new items, or completely change the game’s progression system. There are two main types of mods you should understand.

Mod Categories

  1. Server-Side Mods (XML): Only the server needs these files. Players join normally without downloading anything (e.g., stack size increases, UI tweaks).
  2. Overhaul Mods (Assets): Both the server and the client must have these files installed. These usually include huge changes (e.g., Darkness Falls, Undead Legacy).

Installation Steps

  1. Access Files: Log in to the Game Panel and open the File Manager.
  2. Create Mods Folder: Ensure there is a folder named Mods (case sensitive) in the root directory. If not, create it.
  3. Upload: Place your individual mod folder inside /Mods/.

Essential Configuration

For major overhaul mods like Darkness Falls, you must disable EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) to allow custom assets to load:
  1. Open serverconfig.xml.
  2. Find EACEnabled and set it to false.
  3. Save and Restart your server.

Troubleshooting

If a mod isn’t loading, check your server logout/console for errors. Most issues are caused by special characters in the folder name—try renaming the mod folder to be a simple alphanumeric string (e.g., SMX_Stats).
