Traders such as Jen, Joel, Bob, Hugh, and Rekt are indispensable allies in 7 Days to Die (7D2D). These merchants provide critical survival supplies, offer unique rewards through specialized quests, and serve as temporary safe havens from the undead. Mastering their operational schedules and understanding their protection zones is important for efficient time management and resource acquisition.

Operating Schedules

In the standard game environment, all traders adhere to a rigorous daily schedule based on in-game time.
1

Opening Procedures

Traders unlock their gates and begin operations at 06:05.
2

Closing Procedures

Business hours conclude promptly at 21:50.
3

The Eviction Policy

Upon closing, the trader will broadcast an audible warning. Any player remaining within the compound boundaries will be immediately and forcibly teleported outside the perimeter walls to face the nighttime dangers.

Safe Zone Area Protection

The structural integrity of a trader outpost is controlled by the TraderAreaProtection parameter within your serverconfig.xml.

Advanced Trader Management

The vanilla game does not currently offer a native configuration to keep traders open throughout the night. To bypass the closing schedule, you must install a dedicated server-side mod, such as Always Open Traders, which removes the teleportation trigger and locking mechanic.
Administrators can manually reset a trader’s available quest list by using the trader reset command in the console (F1) while standing within the trader’s protection zone.

Nighttime Safety

Even with protection enabled, zombies can cluster around the exterior of a trader’s walls. Always ensure you have a clear exit path or a vehicle ready when the merchant’s gates open at dawn.
