DayZ Unlimited Stamina: cfggameplay.json Settings

To give a DayZ server unlimited stamina without mods, add enableCfgGameplayFile = 1; to serverDZ.cfg, then open cfggameplay.json in your mission folder and set sprintStaminaModifierErc and sprintStaminaModifierCro to 0.0 under PlayerData > StaminaData. Set staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty to 0.0 so heavy gear doesn’t shrink the stamina bar, then restart the server.

Before you start

Stamina isn’t on the Game settings page. It lives in cfggameplay.json, which the server only reads when enableCfgGameplayFile = 1; is set in serverDZ.cfg.
Make a backup in Backups. A typing mistake in a JSON file stops the server from loading it.

Which file belongs to your map?

Edit cfggameplay.json in the folder of the map set under Map in Game settings.

How to set up unlimited stamina in DayZ

Stop the server

Stop the server in the panel before you edit the files.

Turn on cfggameplay.json

Open Game settings and click serverDZ.cfg: open the raw file. If the file has enableCfgGameplayFile = 0;, change it to 1. If the line is missing, add it on its own line:

enableCfgGameplayFile = 1;

Save the file.

Open cfggameplay.json

In Files, open your mission folder (see the table above) and open cfggameplay.json.

Change the stamina values

Find "StaminaData" inside "PlayerData" and change these values. Leave the other lines as they are.

For stamina that never drops at all, also set the swimming, ladder, melee, obstacle and hold-breath modifiers to 0.0.

Save and start

Save the file and start the server. Join and sprint: the stamina bar should stay full.

`staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty`	`1.75`	How much carried weight lowers maximum stamina. `0` = no weight penalty.
`staminaMinCap`	`5.0`	Lowest the maximum stamina can drop. Don’t set `0`.
`sprintSwimmingStaminaModifier`	`1.0`	Stamina used while swimming fast.
`sprintLadderStaminaModifier`	`1.0`	Stamina used while climbing ladders fast.
`meleeStaminaModifier`	`1.0`	Stamina used by heavy attacks and evading.
`obstacleTraversalStaminaModifier`	`1.0`	Stamina used by jumping, climbing and vaulting.
`holdBreathStaminaModifier`	`1.0`	Stamina used while holding your breath.

To make stamina last longer without making it unlimited, use values between 0 and 1, for example 0.5 halves the stamina used while sprinting.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a mod for unlimited stamina in DayZ?

No. cfggameplay.json is part of vanilla DayZ, so players don’t download anything.

Why didn’t my stamina change?

Check three things: enableCfgGameplayFile = 1; is in serverDZ.cfg, you edited the file in the mission folder of your current map, and the JSON is valid (every comma and bracket in place). Then restart.

Does unlimited stamina remove the weight limit?

Setting staminaKgToStaminaPercentPenalty to 0.0 stops weight from lowering maximum stamina.

Is the change kept after a game update?

cfggameplay.json in your mission folder is your copy. Check it after big DayZ updates in case Bohemia adds new keys.
