Vanilla DayZ has no party or group system: you team up by meeting your friends in game and using voice chat. To add parties on your own server, install a party mod such as DayZ-Expansion-Groups (Workshop ID 2792983364), which lets players create a team with a team HUD, and party chat and shared map markers when combined with other Expansion modules. Party size and invite range are set in its settings file.

How to make a group in vanilla DayZ

Without mods there is no group menu. Players:
  • meet up in game, often at a landmark near where they spawned;
  • use in-game voice chat (unless the server turned Voice chat off in Game settings) or Discord;
  • wear the same armband or clothes to recognise each other.
On your own server you can make this easier with a party mod.

Choose the mods

For parties only: CF, Dabs Framework, DayZ-Expansion-Core, DayZ-Expansion-Book and DayZ-Expansion-Groups. For the full Expansion experience use DayZ-Expansion-Bundle instead. See install DayZ Expansion.

Add them to the server

Load them in the DayZ Launcher, export modlist.html and upload it to the main folder. See install mods.

Restart and check keys

Restart the server, check every mod’s .bikey is in keys, and restart again if you added one.

Set the party options

After the first start, open the Party settings file in profiles/ExpansionMod/Settings/ with the server stopped. MaxMembersInParty sets the party size and UseWholeMapForInviteList controls which players show up in the invite list. Save and start the server.

Is there a party system in DayZ without mods?
