Creating consistent backups of your game server is the most critical task for any administrator. Whether you are preparing for a major game update, installing complex mods, or simply want to protect your community’s progress, having a recent snapshot allows you to revert to a known stable state in minutes. How to Create a Manual Backup

Follow these steps to generate a compressed snapshot of your server files and databases.

Access the Backups Tab

Log in to the Game Panel, select your server, and click on the Backups tab in the sidebar.

Initialize Snapshot

Click the Create Backup button. A configuration window will appear.

Define Backup Metadata

  • Backup Name: Enter a descriptive identifier (e.g., Pre-Mod-Install or World-Save-Jan-2026).
  • Ignored Files: (Optional) List specific files or directories to exclude from the archive to save space (e.g., /logs/*).

Execution & Progress

Click Start Backup. The system will begin compressing your data. You can monitor the progress bar; larger servers with many assets may take several minutes to complete.

Advanced Backup Features

By default, our system may rotate or overwrite older backups if your slot limit is reached. Toggle the Locked switch on your most important snapshots to prevent them from being deleted by automated cleanup processes.
Every FREAKHOSTING plan includes a specific number of backup slots. If you find your slots are full, you must manually delete an older, unlocked backup before the system can generate a new one.

Restoration Warning

Restoring a backup will overwrite all current files on your server. We recommend creating a fresh backup of your existing state before performing a restoration to ensure no recent progress is lost if the older version is not what you expected.
