Evolution of the Track Surface

One of the most realistic features in Assetto Corsa is dynamic track grip. As cars complete laps, rubber is laid down on the tarmac, increasing the available traction for all drivers.

Configuration Settings

You can tune the grip evolution in your server_cfg.ini under the [DYNAMIC_TRACK] header:
  • SESSION_START: The initial grip level at the start of the session (e.g., 89 for a “Green” track).
  • SESSION_TRANSFER: The percentage of grip carried over from the previous session into the next (e.g., from Qualifying to Race).
  • LAP_GAIN: The amount of percentage grip added per car completion of a lap (e.g., 1).

Strategic Qualifying

On a server with a low SESSION_START value (Green track), the surface will be at its grippiest at the very end of the session. This encourages drivers to stay on track and time their fast laps for the final minutes of qualifying.
