“Missing CSP features” means the Assetto Corsa server you are joining requires Custom Shaders Patch (CSP), or a newer CSP build than you have. To fix it, open Content Manager, go to Settings > Custom Shaders Patch and install or update CSP, then join again. As a server owner, you require CSP by writing TRACK=csp/<build>/../<track> in cfg/server_cfg.ini, where <build> is the lowest CSP build number you accept.

Install Content Manager and CSP

If you don’t have them yet, follow install Content Manager and CSP.

Update CSP

In Content Manager, open Settings > Custom Shaders Patch and update to the latest version, or at least the version the server asks for.

Join from Content Manager

Join the server again from Content Manager. Some community servers, such as “no hesi” style traffic servers, need a preview build of CSP. Check the server’s own Discord or website for the exact version.

How to require CSP on your own server

The CSP documentation describes a “CSP-only server”: you add a prefix with the minimum CSP build number to the track name. Players without that build can’t join, and everyone races with the same CSP features.

Stop the server

Edit TRACK

Open cfg/server_cfg.ini in Files and change the TRACK line:
Replace <build> with the build number of the oldest CSP version you accept. Leave CONFIG_TRACK as it is.

Start and test

Start the server and join with Content Manager to check that your CSP version is accepted.
Since CSP 0.1.78, the prefix can also carry an options code: csp/<build>/../<options>/../<track ID>. The options turn on custom car physics, custom track physics or hide the pit crew. If you build the server in Content Manager’s Server tab, its “require CSP” setting writes the prefix for you.

What are CSP server extra options?

Extra options are a small config that CSP reads from the server’s welcome message. They set rules such as a forced pit speed limiter, wrong-way driving rules, AFK auto-kick, chat filters, weather location ([WEATHER_FX]) and freeroam features like teleports. CSP compresses and encodes the config and hides it in the welcome message, so players without CSP don’t see it. The easiest way to use them on our server:
  1. Build your server preset in Content Manager and set the CSP options there.
  2. Pack the preset and upload the files. See Content Manager server presets.
Some options, such as teleports and colour changes, only work on a CSP-only server.

What does “server auth failed: missing CSP features” mean?

The server checked your CSP and found it too old or missing. Update CSP in Content Manager and join again.

Can players without CSP join my server?

Yes, unless you add the csp/ prefix to TRACK. Without it, players with and without CSP can join.

Do I need to install CSP on the server?

No. CSP runs on players’ PCs. The server only passes on the track name and welcome message.

Why can’t I join a “no hesi” server even with CSP?

Those servers often need a specific or preview CSP build and their own car and track packs. Ask the server’s community which versions they need.
