To install QBCore or ESX on a FREAKHOSTING FiveM server, create a database on the Databases page, click Open txAdmin, choose Popular Recipes in the setup and pick QBCore, Qbox or ESX Legacy. txAdmin downloads the framework, fills the database and writes server.cfg for you. Then click Save & Run Server and join from FiveM.

Before you start

What is a FiveM framework?

A framework is the core script of a roleplay server. It adds characters, jobs, money, inventories and the database tables that store them. Most roleplay scripts are written for one framework, so pick one and stay with it. txAdmin lists these framework recipes under Popular Recipes: The same list also has FiveM Basic Server (CFX Default), a server without a framework, and vMenu, a freeroam trainer. For a server without jobs and money, see how to install vMenu instead.

How to create the database

QBCore, Qbox and ESX all need a MySQL database.
1

Create it

Click Databases in the sidebar, then Create database. Enter a name, for example qbcore. The panel adds a prefix, so note the full name it shows. Leave Allowed to connect from on Anywhere and click Create database.
2

Keep the card open

The database card shows HOST, DATABASE, USER NAME and PASSWORD. Click Show to see the password. You paste these four values into the recipe in the next part.

How to install QBCore, Qbox or ESX with a txAdmin recipe

1

Open txAdmin

Start the server, then click Open txAdmin next to your server’s IP. txAdmin opens in a new tab on port 40120.
FiveM server console with the server IP and the Open txAdmin button in the header, and Announce, Refresh resources and Ensure resource quick buttons above the console

The Open txAdmin button sits next to your server's IP

2

Choose Popular Recipes

In the setup, enter a server name, then choose Popular Recipes as the deployment type and pick QBCore, Qbox or ESX Legacy.
3

Review the recipe

txAdmin shows what the recipe will download and do. Click through to continue.
4

Enter your licence key and database

Paste the same licence key you use in Startup. For the database, enter the host, user name, password and database name from your database card. Use the IP part of HOST as the host and 3306 as the port.
5

Let it run

txAdmin downloads the resources, creates the tables and writes server.cfg. This takes a few minutes. All three recipes also install oxmysql (database), pma-voice (voice chat) and bob74_ipl (interiors).
6

Save and start

Check the server.cfg txAdmin shows, then click Save & Run Server.
A recipe installs into the folder txAdmin chooses. If that is not your server’s main folder, the Server config and Resources pages edit a different server.cfg than the one txAdmin runs. Server config then shows the check txAdmin runs this server. Manage server.cfg and resources in txAdmin, or in that folder in Files.

Already set up txAdmin with Existing Server Data?

The recipe choice only appears in txAdmin’s setup. Running a recipe on a server that already has a working txAdmin setup means going through the setup again. Make a backup first. If you’re unsure, open a ticket and we’ll help.

What to check after the install

  1. Licence key: the console shows no licence error.
  2. OneSync: all three recipes set onesync on. Keep OneSync on On (recommended). See OneSync explained.
  3. Database: no oxmysql errors in the console. oxmysql must start before the framework; see resource start order.
  4. Player slots: the panel writes sv_maxclients from Max Players in Startup at every start, so the number in the recipe’s server.cfg doesn’t matter. See player slots.
  5. Admins: add yourself as an admin in your framework’s permission setup, as its documentation describes.
  6. Connect: press F8 in FiveM and type connect with your address, for example connect 203.0.113.10:30120.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose QBCore or ESX?

Choose the framework your must-have scripts support. QBCore and Qbox share many scripts, and ESX has its own large library. Switching later means replacing most scripts.

Do I need a database for QBCore or ESX?

Yes. QBCore, Qbox and ESX Legacy store characters, money and inventories in MySQL. Create one on the Databases page before you run the recipe.

Can I install QBCore without txAdmin?

txAdmin is always on for FREAKHOSTING FiveM servers, and its recipes are the easiest way. A manual install is possible, but you then download every resource, import the SQL files and write server.cfg yourself.

Where does the recipe put the server files?

In the folder txAdmin chose during setup. Check the Server config page: if it shows txAdmin runs this server, the recipe’s server.cfg is not the one in your main folder.

Why can’t I join after the recipe finished?

Check the console for red errors, usually a licence key or database problem. See FiveM failed to connect.
