To play a Steam Workshop map on a FREAKHOSTING CS2 server, start the server, open Server settings, paste the map’s Workshop address or number into Workshop map and click Change now. In the console the command is host_workshop_map plus the map’s ID, for example host_workshop_map 3070284539. The server downloads the map from Steam and switches to it.

Before you start

  • The map is made for Counter-Strike 2 and is public on the Workshop. CS:GO workshop maps don’t work in CS2.
  • You know the map’s Workshop ID: the number at the end of its address. In https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3070284539 the ID is 3070284539.
  • The server is running. Change now switches the map on a running server.

How to play a workshop map in the Game Panel

Open Server settings

Click Server settings under COUNTER-STRIKE 2 in the sidebar.

Paste the map

Under Game mode and map, paste the map’s Steam Workshop address, or just its number, into Workshop map.

Click Change now

The server downloads the map and loads it. The first time can take a minute, depending on the map’s size.

Type this in the Console, with your map’s ID:

Why does my workshop map go away after a restart?

A workshop map can’t be the start map on our CS2 servers. After a restart the server loads your Start map again. To get the workshop map back:
  • Click Change now again, or run host_workshop_map again.
  • Or host a workshop collection, so your workshop maps are always on the server.

Why doesn’t my CS2 workshop map load?

Check the ID, make sure the map is public and made for CS2, and wait for the download to finish. Read the Console for errors.

Do players need to download the map?

Yes. CS2 downloads it for them from Steam when they join. You don’t upload map files yourself.

Can I play several workshop maps in a row?

Yes. Host them as a workshop collection and switch with ds_workshop_changelevel.

Can admins change to a workshop map in game?

Yes, with an admin plugin. With CS2-SimpleAdmin, admins type !wsmap <id or name> in chat. See add admins.
