Defining Your Identity


Your server’s hostname is the primary identifier seen by players in the Steam Server Browser and the in-game Community List. A clear, branding-focused name is crucial for building a consistent player base.

1. Locating the Configuration

  1. Log in to your FREAKHOSTING Control Panel.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab.
  3. Browse to the /game/csgo/cfg/ directory.
  4. Open the server.cfg file. If this file does not exist, you can create it manually.

2. Updating the Name

Within your server.cfg, locate or add the hostname variable. Ensure the name is enclosed in double quotes:
hostname "FREAKHOSTING | 128 Tick | 1v1 Arena | FastDL"

3. Applying and Verifying

  1. Save the file and Restart your CS2 server.
  2. Once the server is online, open your in-game console and type status.
  3. The first line of the output will display your new server name.

Marketing Tip

Avoid using generic names like “CS2 Server”. Instead, include your community’s name and the specific game mode you are running to help players find exactly what they are looking for.
