V Rising has no setting that protects a castle only while its owner is offline. To limit offline raiding on your server, set "CastleDamageMode": "TimeRestricted" in save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json and choose raid hours when most players are online, or set "CastleDamageMode": "Never" to turn raiding off completely. Save the file and restart the server.

Is there offline raid protection in V Rising?

No. The game checks the time of day, not whether the owner is online. Raid windows are the built-in way to stop raids at night or during work hours. Pick a window that suits your players’ time zone and post it in your Server Description on the Startup page.

Open your game settings file

Stop the server and open save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json in the File Manager. Create it from the default file if it isn’t there; see server settings explained.

Set the castle windows

Under PlayerInteractionSettings, set the hours for raids, for example 20:00 to 22:00 UTC every day:
Keep the other keys in PlayerInteractionSettings as they are.

Save and restart

Leave Game Settings Preset empty on the Startup page, save the file and start the server.

How to turn raiding off

Set "CastleDamageMode": "Never" and restart. Players can still fight each other if PlayerDamageMode is Always, but no castle can be damaged. This suits PvP servers where people want duels without losing their base.

Does CastleDamageMode Never also stop PvP?

No. It only protects castles. To stop player fights too, set PlayerDamageMode to TimeRestricted with windows, or set GameModeType to PvE.

Which time zone do the raid hours use?

The one in PlayerInteractionSettings > TimeZone: Local, UTC, PST, EST, CET or CST.

Yes. Restart the server after every change to ServerGameSettings.json.
