To reduce sun damage on a V Rising server, open save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json in the File Manager and lower SunDamageModifier. The default is 1.0; 0.5 halves sun damage and 0 removes it. The range is 0 to 3. Save the file and restart the server. You can also make days shorter or give disconnected players longer sun immunity.

In the File Manager, open save-data/Settings/ServerGameSettings.json. If it doesn’t exist, create it from the default file first; see server settings explained.

Keep Game Settings Preset empty on the Startup page, save the file and start the server.

Other settings that make the sun easier

To make the whole game easier, you can also pick an easier Game Settings Preset such as StandardPvE_Easy or StandardPvP_Easy on the Startup page. A preset replaces your own file, so use one or the other.

Can I turn sun damage off completely?

Yes. Set "SunDamageModifier": 0 and restart. Players can then walk in daylight without burning.

Does lowering sun damage affect garlic or silver?

No. Garlic, holy areas and silver have their own modifiers, listed above.

Why is sun damage unchanged after my edit?

Check that you edited the file in save-data/Settings/, that the JSON is valid, that the preset is empty and that you restarted. See settings not applying.
