Bridging the Version Gap

Historically, Minecraft Java and Bedrock additions could never play together due to core engine differences. GeyserMC solves this by acting as a real-time packet translator, allowing your community to stay united regardless of their platform.

Essential Components

To enable crossplay, you need two distinct plugins:
  1. Geyser: The translator that handles the network protocols.
  2. Floodgate: Allows Bedrock players to join without needing a Java account, handling authentication via their Microsoft or Xbox credentials.

Installation & Configuration

1. Plugin Setup

Upload the Geyser-Spigot.jar and Floodgate-Spigot.jar files to your /plugins/ directory and restart the server to generate the configuration files.

2. Networking (UDP)

Unlike Java (TCP), Bedrock uses the UDP protocol.
  • Port: By default, Geyser listens on port 19132.
  • Panel Note: On FREAKHOSTING, ensure the your server’s assigned ports are enabled for both TCP and UDP traffic.

3. Config.yml Adjustments

Open /plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml and verify:
  • bedrock.port: Should match your intended join port (usually 19132 or your main port).
  • remote.address: Set to 127.0.0.1.
  • remote.auth-type: Set to floodgate to enable seamless login for Bedrock users.
