Temporal Management: Sleep Logic

In a multiplayer environment, skipping the night can be difficult if players are spread out across the island or if someone is AFK in a base. By adjusting the “Sleep Percentage,” you can control how many people must use a tent or bed simultaneously for the server to accelerate time to the next morning.

Configuration Variable

This setting is found in your main gameplay configuration file:
  • Path: /userdata/dedicatedservergameplay.json
  • Variable: "GameSetting.V.PlayersSleepingPercentage": 100

  • 100% (Default): Requires every single player online to be tucked into a bed. This is often impossible on public servers.
  • 50% (Recommended): Only half the server needs to sleep. This is the community standard for active dedicated servers.
  • 1% (Instant Skip): As long as one person is sleeping, the night will skip. Use this for low-population friend groups.

Remember that Tree Regrowth is tied to the sleep cycle. If your server never sleeps (because the percentage is too high), your forests will never regenerate naturally.
