Custom ISO Installation

Note: By default, the Custom ISO option is disabled for VPS instances. If you need to use this feature, please open a support ticket to have it enabled.
While FREAKHOSTING provides a strong selection of pre-configured operating system templates, we understand that specific projects may require unique distributions or specialized kernels. Our Cloud Portal allows you to mount a wide variety of official ISO images or even stream your own custom media via a remote URL.

Method 1: Using the ISO Library

Follow these steps to mount an image from our local data center storage.
1

Access Media Tab

Log in to the VPS Control Panel, click Manage on your server, and open the Media tab.
2

Select local Image

Browse the categorized list (e.g., Linux, Windows, Utils) and click Mount next to your desired ISO.

Method 2: Custom ISO via URL (Remote)

If you have a specialized OS not in our library, you can mount it directly from the internet.
1

Obtain HTTPS Link

Ensure you have a direct HTTPS link to an .iso file. It must be accessible without login or human verification.
2

Enter Custom URL

In the Media tab, click the Custom CD/DVD button. Paste your URL and click Submit.

Finalizing the Boot Cycle

Regardless of the mounting method, you must tell the virtual hardware to boot from the disk.
1

Configure Boot Order

In the Media tab, ensure CD/DVD-ROM is set as the primary boot device.
2

Restart and Console

Perform a Restart from the dashboard and immediately open the VNC Console to begin the installation wizard.

Persistent Boot Loops

Failure to unmount the ISO (by clicking Unmount in the Media tab) after installation will cause the server to repeatedly boot back into the installer.
Only HTTPS links are supported. Cloud storage links (like Google Drive) often fail because they provide a landing page instead of a raw file stream.
