Recovering Administrative Access

If you have lost your primary credentials (root for Linux or administrator for Windows), you can reset them directly from the Cloud Portal without reinstalling the OS. This utility allows you to regain control of your environment securely.

Linux

Root User

Windows

Administrator

Prerequisite: QEMU Guest Agent

[!IMPORTANT] The password reset tool requires the QEMU Guest Agent to be installed and running inside your VPS. If you haven’t installed it yet, follow our Guest Agent Guide.

Password Reset Workflow

Follow these steps to initialize the credential update.
1

Navigate to Options

Log in to the Cloud Portal, click Manage on your VPS, and open the Options tab.
2

Open Password Tool

Click on the Password sub-tab in the Options menu.
3

Input New Password

Enter your desired new password and click the Reset Password button.
4

Finalize

A notification will confirm if the reset was successful. For some operating systems, a Restart may be required for the change to take full effect.

Technical Insights

Standard “Recovery” often involves booting into single-user mode. Our panel’s Reset function uses the Guest Agent to inject the new password directly into the OS security database (shadow/SAM) while the system is running.
If the reset status returns an error, verify that your VPS firewall is not blocking the QEMU Guest Agent and that the service is active (systemctl status qemu-guest-agent).

Failed Resets

If the reset fails repeatedly, you may need to use Rescue Mode to manually mount your disk and change the password via chroot.
