Before You Begin
To set up Two-Factor Authentication, you’ll need:
| Requirement | Description |
|---|
| Authenticator App | Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or similar |
| Mobile Device | Smartphone or tablet with your authenticator app installed |
| Account Access | Ability to log in to your FREAKHOSTING account |
Recommended Authenticator Apps
- Google Authenticator - Simple and reliable (iOS / Android)
- Authy - Syncs across devices with cloud backup (iOS / Android)
- Microsoft Authenticator - Great for Microsoft ecosystem users
Step 1: Access Security Settings
- Log in to the FREAKHOSTING Client Area.
- Click on your name in the top-right corner of the page.
- Select Security Settings from the dropdown menu.
Alternatively, navigate directly to: Security Settings
Step 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- In the Security Settings page, locate the Two-Factor Authentication section.
- Click the Click here to Enable button.
- A QR code will appear on your screen.
- Open your authenticator app on your mobile device.
- Tap the option to add a new account (usually a ”+” icon).
- Select Scan QR Code and point your camera at the QR code on screen.
- Your authenticator app will automatically add your FREAKHOSTING account.
Manual Entry Option
If you cannot scan the QR code, look for a manual entry key displayed below the QR code. Enter this key manually in your authenticator app.
Step 3: Verify and Save Backup Codes
- Your authenticator app will now display a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
- Enter the current code in the verification field on the FREAKHOSTING page.
- Click Submit to complete the setup.
- Important: Save the backup codes provided. These allow you to access your account if you lose your device.
Critical: Save Your Backup Codes!
Store your backup codes in a secure location (password manager, secure note, or printed in a safe place). If you lose access to your authenticator app and don’t have backup codes, you’ll need to contact support to regain access to your account.
Logging In with 2FA
After enabling 2FA, your login process will include an additional step:
- Enter your email and password as usual.
- When prompted, open your authenticator app.
- Enter the current 6-digit code displayed for your FREAKHOSTING account.
- Click Verify to complete login.
Quick Tip
The code in your authenticator app refreshes every 30 seconds. If you’re entering a code and the timer is about to expire, wait for the new code to avoid a failed attempt.
